Ahead of APC’ Delegate Congress: Group Charges Party Executives and Stakeholders to Resolve for the Candidacy of Yemisi Oshaloto for Yagba West State Constituency’ Seat – Asks Other Aspirants to Work Harmoniously with the People’s Mandate.
Following the readjustment in the All Progressive Congress’ timetable for the conduction of Primary Elections across the State and fixes tomorrow, May 13th for screening of State Assembly Aspirants and subsequently May 22 for Assembly Primary, it has then become a need and outmost importance to continue our adhesive sensitization on why the aspirations of Yemisi Oshaloto has to be delivered for the good people of Yagba West State Constituency.
The agitations of Yagba West Youth Consultative Forum is to have a female representative come from the constituency as we strongly believe in the “Filé Fun Obirin” movement and ultimately produce the first female lawmaker from the constituency. The Agenda was to break the status quo at the state level, by having Yemisi Oshaloto as the first female lawmaker in the state, but this might no longer be the case as other Local Government Areas through our advocacy for the Idérà De movement, have begin to see the need to produce a female representative for the assembly seat.
This development is encouraging and highly commendable as the aspiration of Yemisi Oshaloto evidently gave birth to the Filé Fun Obirin movement in the state. Therefore, we are all eager to witness for the first time in the history of Kogi State, gender equilibria in terms of representation and all round inclusiveness in decisions making, and governance of our dear state.
While we intend to use this opportunity to expressly appreciate party Leaders and Stakeholders who keyed into the Idérà De manifesto from its inception, we are also affirming that Yagba West State Constituent being the original initiator of women emancipation ahead of the 2023 election, will not take the backseat but rather pilot the Filé Fun Obirin movement to the desirable height.
Local Government across the state, should begin to look towards the direction of producing a female representative at the Primaries to further complement His Excellency’ efforts over the years in the aspect of women inclusiveness in governance. We therefore congratulate our most preferred and God anointed Candidate, Oluwayemisi Oshaloto as she prepares to be screened tomorrow May 13th, and furthermore, elected as the party’s flag bearer on May 22nd, 2022, to lead the party to victory come 2023 general election.
