Yagba 2027: A Look At Ipinyomi.
As the 2027 general election draws close, one name that has remained a reoccurring decimal in discussion’s, having the capacity to rescue Yagba Federal Constituency, from the shackles of underdevelopment and poor representation is Brig. Gen. Benjamin Segun Ipinyomi (Rtd).
Brig. General Ipinyomi, hails from Mopamuro LGA, holds a M.Sc, PGDE, B.Sc, MNIM, MCPA, was Commission into the Nigerian Army, Oct. 4, 1989.
Ipinyomi was a distinguished and result-driven senior military officer, with over three decades of meritorious service in the Nigerian Army to his credit.
While in the Army, Ipinyomi demonstrated expertise in defense education, command leadership, security strategy, museum and archival management, and civil-military relations.
He has a proven record of pioneering and executing
transformative projects within the Nigerian Army.
An accomplished public speaker and participant in
numerous international conferences, fostering cross-national collaboration in security, defense, education,
and national development.
It is a note able fact that Yagba Federal Constituency has been in the throes of insecurity. Ipinyomi’s area of expertise include but not limited to;
• Defense and Security Strategy
• Military Education and Training
• Museum and Heritage Management
• Curriculum and Policy Development
• Civil-Military Relations
• International Collaboration and Representation
• Institutional Leadership and Reform
• Logistics and Resource Management, has been described as what the people of Yagba Federal Constituency need now and in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly.
For now all eyes on Brig. General Ipinyomi. The clamour day after day, is becoming a deafening voice by the people, looking in his direction and antecedents now and for 2027.
The need therefore for men of good conscience to commence the earnest search for credible men and women that will represent their collective destinies in the National Assembly can therefore not be overemphasized.
There is a school of thought about Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State. As old as it is amongst district in Nigeria, it has not been so lucky to have had more than an above average performance of representation in the green chamber.
This is the reason why the need for a more comprehensive search for credible individual like Ipinyomi, loaded with antecedents of selfless services to his constituency and humanity remains necessary.
The search for an acceptable representative with the capacity, wouldn’t therefore be a problem to find with the likes of Brig Gen. Ipinyomi.
According to Mr Stephen Bola, from Yagba Federal constituency, challenged political leaders across all the divides to beam their searchlights on competence, antecedents and a representative that will be accessible.
Though many are already showing interest. The number maybe countless. The question to ask is what is the new thing that they will be bringing to the stable in the coming years.
The need to begin to look inward and far for a worthy representation for Yagba Federal Constituency come 2027, will not be business as usual. Remember, Nigerians, nay, Kogites and Yagba Federal Constituents are more wiser now.
The argument of who the cap fits should go beyond political affiliation, deep pockets and Sense of entitlements. It will also be interesting to note that 2027 will be a different ball game as there is already an indication that Constituencies will be bringing their best.
Nigerians are now more wiser by the day in making choices of who represent them in 2027, reason why Yagba must come to terms with the yearning and aspirations of the people.
2027 will provide another opportunity to make Yagba Federal Constituency an envy. This can only be made possible with careful and a precise selection process, not by forcing a candidate on the people.
One amongst the class of men being touted to have interest in the Yagba House of Representative seat, Ipinyomi, seem to have what it takes to step into the ring. Certainly he will make the difference for the people. What is only required is the need for Constituents to be thorough, look beyond the face value.
That Yagba Federal constituency need a man of courage and boldness to be the voice of the people in the next dispensation cannot be over-emphasized. Ipinyomi’s background has prepared him for the job.
Without mincing words, Ipinyomi has built trust and confidence amongst the frontline gladiators. He has remained untainted even amidst a society where people get carried away by the paraphernalia of office. What stands him out is his rich reservoir of intelligence, reason why aside pecuniary gains of what the office of the House of Representative offers to the occupier, the need to have a man who can bring to limelight a district that has remained a sleeping giant is now.
That Yagba schools, health institutions, basic infrastructure like good roads in the constituency are in shambles, should be the basis for which supporters should agitate for quality representative.
There is no doubt today that any keen observer of the development in Yagba Federal Constituency, made up of Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West LGAs, will definitely agree that since the advent of the nation’s current democracy, the area has not had a fair, effective representation when juxtaposed with other districts in the country and in the state.
This is the reason why it has become expedient for patriotic indigenes of the constituency to begin a thorough and sincere search for who represent the constituency in 2027.
While it is fair to say that past representatives from the constituency may have done their best, without mincing words, when compared with the other areas, Yagba Federal constituency no doubt lags behind.
The time to begin to look at men described as having brought to bear courage, resilience and outspokenness in the fight for the common man, particularly, the, vulnerable and lowly class people should form the choice of Ipinyomi.
Though a silent performer and a formidable force to reckon with when it comes to negotiating for the people, many are of the view that for Ipinyomi, Yes a successful soldier, the time to step out even though many say he has never been a politician shouldn’t be an issue.
After all, professional politicians were never born. Having an exemplary representative amongst genuine crusaders, should be what should endear the next Yagba Representative to the hearts of the people, should not be compromised.
According to Josiah Gilbert Holland, “a time like this demands men who the lust of position does not kill, men whom the spoils of elective office cannot buy. Men who possess opinion and a will. Men who have honour. Men who will not lie. Men who can stand before a demagogue and damn his treacherous flattering without winking. Strong men, sun crowned who live above the fog in public duty and a private thinking. In Yagba Federal Constituency, Brig Gen Ipinyomi is such a man.
