The name Jeremiah Oladokun a Yagba Federal Constituency election hopeful for the house of Representatives is gradually becoming a household name accross the towns and villages in Yagba land.
Thanks to the style of innovative politics he has introduced into the political arena that culminated into the various consultative meetings he held with a cross section of relevant stakeholders to familiarize with them and also introduce his Legislative Agenda if elected into office come 2023.No wonder,the quality of personalities and crowd willing to have audience with him is unprecedented.
Speaking while flagging off the final round of familiarisation meeting with community leaders, artisans, women and youth groups and representatives of widows for the year in Mopa, home of the Director General of Jeremiah Oladokun Campaign Organisation ,Hon Temitope Ajayi (Santo) stressed the need for Yagba Federal Constituency to have a paradgm shift from reactive style of representation and randomization of project delivery to a more organized system based on Legislative Agenda which a Legislator can implement and also form the basis for accountability and performance evaluation of his stewardship.
“Jeremiah Oladokun, has identified that prospective Yagba National Assembly Aspirants must develop a sustainable system of representation to remain focused and to attract development within a defined agenda of his vision and mission and strategies to achieve them. That is why he has come here to present his strategies on how to move Yagba forward.He appealed to the the stakeholders to consider and support Oladokun’s aspiration to the office based on his agenda and not just on presemptions.
However, while making a presentation of his Legislative Agenda to the people, The Technocrat was quick to dispel the notions that he was casting aspersions on the score cards of his predecessors by declaring that mere empowerment was not enough and sustainable.
“Am not against any politician sharing vehicles and motorcycles to their supporters or carrying out parlative works on our roads to ameliorate the sufferings of our people,. Even some rich men outside politics have been doing that but my concern is how our people will not be cajoled to think that that is the yardstick to rate performance of a representative in the national assembly when we should be giving accounts in terms of how many community projects facilitated directly from FG, how many unemployed youths were gainfully employed, how many startups were supported to be self employed, how many FG empowerment programmes were facilitated for the benefits of the people in this era of unlimited opportunities abound” There is the need for representatives to be proactive and thinking outside the box and look beyond the convention of having to wait for constituency allowance handouts before they can attempt to implement any of their programmes no matter the scope””He said.
“A representative without an agenda to pursue for the development of his constituency can only resort to gifting of such natiure and random project delivery to attract attention and breed pschophantic followership of a few out of the vast majority of his constituents,how has that impacted positively on the community generally, he querried? If that is the best they have to offer based on the limit of their capacity and opportunities available to them,then am ready to move on from where they stop,we shall be assisting my constituents to create wealth by exposing them to business opportunities rather than dashing them things”
” I will not only give you fish, but i will teach you how to fish and become empowered to create wealth for yourselves and also help others through my Community Wealth Creation Agenda which i have started implementing already. “Close to 800 artisans and small business owners across Yagba Federal Constituency we have assisted to facilitate approvals have benefited from the CBN/NIRSAL Covid 19 TCF through my direct facilitation. Some of them are here and are living witnesses to buttress my point and we are not just stopping at that. We have opportunities to tap into across the different sectors. Projects cutting across transportation, agriculture,youth empowerment and students will be exposed to greater opportunities for job creation and self reliance. They are in the pipeline against 2022 and i can assure you that we shall deliver on our promise,he said.
He also took time to interract with a cross section of over 300 widows in attendance in different locations to collate their thoughts and aticulate their concerns for incorporation into his agenda. He expressed his desire to work with them with a view to ameliorating their sufferings, haven identified them among the less privileged in the society whose care must not be left only in the hand of immediate family members who sometimes may be overwhelmed due to limited resources. He promised to bring them on board the Federal Government opportunities for uplifting the vulnerables and less privileged in the society. ” F G has some programmes being implemented through some ministries, departments and agencies and some cross section of widows have been beneftiting from them. Yours cannot be an exception. I will also use my connections with local and international humanitarian agencies to facilitate empowerment for your group “he stated.
The familiarisation tour moved to other locations including Ejuku, Isanlu, Ife Olukotun in Yagba East, Odo-Ere and Egbe in Yagba West,meeting with Artisan Unions and other critical stakeholders with similar messages passed across to them. He subsequently presented stipends of cash to the widows in appreciation of their heeding to his calling to meet with him. He promised to reveal the political platform he will be affiliated to ahead of the election soon as he pleaded to the stakeholders to allow him a little more time to finalize his plans ahead of his official declaration in January.
