World Press Freedom Day: Activists Tasks Stakeholders On Need to Safeguard Press Freedom.


 

As the world celebrate the world press freedom day, the Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, Comr Idris Miliki has called on stakeholders to work towards protecting and safeguarding press freedom.

The Activists in a statement to mark this year’s World Press Freedom Day said it is
important for all stakeholders, to continue to safeguard freedom of the press and free flow of information.

He lamented situations where Media practitioners were attacked on line of duty as withnessed recently in Kogi State, in other part of the country and the world at large as unfortunate and unacceptable.

He in strong terms condemn harassment of Journalists, described Journalism as a noble profession and said journalists should be allowed to practice their profession with out let or hindrances.

Comr Miliki called on the owners of Media institutions to also take the welfare of journalists seriously said it behooves on them to set examples.

The Executive Director called on journalists not to allow themselves to be intmidated in any way but to strive to uphold the principle of professionalism at all times, wished Journalists a happy press freedom day.
