Nigerians have been asked to cultivate the practice of conserving the nations forest and environment through the use of Organic products.

urged citizens to mitigate the impact of climate change by conserving the environment as its devastating impacts cannot be overemphasized.

The Project/Program Co-ordinator urged Nigerians to cultivate the habit of doing away with chemical fertilizers because of its harmful effects on the environment, advocated the use of Organic products, insecticides, organic fertilizers, urged Nigerians to do away with chemical enhanced fertilizer and other products.

The Project Co-ordinator disclosed that the training program is organized for participants drawn from six local government areas of the State, alongside members of the Civil Society Organization, Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Women Affairs and Social Development Ministries.

In his presentation on climate change and forest conservation/practical training on sustainable agriculture, Mr. John Baaki, Deputy Executive Director, Women Environmental Program (WEP), advocated the approach of mitigation and adaptation towards reducing the devastating effect of climate change.
He equally advised for the use of reducing sources or enhanced sinks of greenhouse gases as well as the need to manage the unavoidable impacts of climate change by adjusting human systems in response to the prevailing climate.
He advocated the need for planting of trees, reducing the use of chemicals in agriculture and to avoid deforestation as means of reducing the impact of climate change.
Similarly, he advocated for the implementation of mass transit schemes by government to reduce emissions, pointing out that it is another way that helps greatly in addressing the climate change impacts.
He equally urged for the reduction or halt of the use of fossil fuel exploration, recommended the use of wood efficient cook stoves, pointing out that it is healthier to promote the health of the people and in conserving the environment.
The WEP Executive Director called for an adaptation actions to include water harvesting, adjusting planting dates, research for improved crop varieties, build storm surge barriers where necessary, sue for the need to diversify livelihoods, and the to practice sustainable agriculture in reducing the impact of climate change.
Highlights of the training program was practical training on guide to preparing organic fertilizers such as Neem leaves fertilizers, Neem seed cakes and compost. The participants prepared Neem leaves extract, Neem leaves pesticide amongst other organic fertilizers and pesticides.
