With Education Law, Challenges Facing Sector, Now A Thing of The Past in Kogi – Hon. Wemi Jones


 

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones has described the Education Law passed recently in the state as one law that would handle all the challenges bedeviling the education Sector witnessed in the past.

The Kogi State Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones made the disclosure while featuring on the Radio Kogi Audience Sensitization Programme “State of Kogi” today, said the various sections of the law passed is all encompassing to make education an envy in the state.

He described the education law as one that would fully put into use the 20% budgetary allocation for education by the State, described the education law as the first of its kind in the state since it creation.

He added that efforts would be made to ensure enforcement of the law assuring that the law would prosecute offenders stating that all breaches have penalties.

He described it as a crime with the Education Law for a child to engage in hawking during school hours, the use of substandard and unqualified teachers, said the penalities for individuals and schools has now been made clear.

While he described the funding of education as a collective efforts Commended the State Government for the 20% allocated to the Sector, said with the Education Law now in place in the state, it would afford donor agencies and other interested parties the opportunities to assist with funding.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that with the Education Law now in placed in the State, issues of libraries, laboratories and other issues affecting the development of education would be a thing of the past.
