Wike silences defection rumour purveyors, says PDP is my party

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
The former presidential aspirant made this known to newsmen in Port Harcourt, after he arrived Nigeria from a week’s vacation in Turkey.
The aircraft, which brought the governor back alongside his Abia State counterpart, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, to Port Harcourt, touched down at the Port Harcourt International Airport, last Saturday afternoon, amid a large crowd of supporters and leaders of the PDP in the state.
He said: “In politics, a true democrat disagrees to agree. Yes, we are aggrieved but this won’t affect our resolve to unseat the APC in 2023.
“When we get into the Villa, we would iron out our differences”.
“PDP is my party and I remain a committed member of the party.”
Before the governor headed for Turkey, his Ada-George private residence was a beehive of activities as political heavyweights visited him for closed-door consultative meetings ahead of the 2023 elections.
Among those who visited the governor were the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr Dave Umahi; presidential candidate of Labour Party and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi; Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed; presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; leaders of the PDP in the National Assembly, led by Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda; former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe; among other political bigwigs.
