Yesterday, I read an article written by Erin McMenamin, titled: Serving as a Representative of the People.
The author explicitly states that legislatures play a unique and necessary role in democratic governance because they are tasked with representing citizen concerns most directly in the central government.
Of course, I know that we can greatly benefit from having our voices heard in the legislature and in other places where decisions are made. Last week, I shared with my friends in Egbe that part of the reasons I am rooting for Yemisi is because we need a representative with the “right network.”
Yemisi will bring growth and development to the people.
We, as a people, have a significant say in who represents us in the state house of assembly. We need to decide on our development. The people have the power to demand through their representatives that development be brought to their community. This is what Yemisi will bring.
Oluyemisi has the commitment, dedication, and energy to deliver for the people of Yagba West local government. I believe if given the chance, she will make it count for the people.
So I urge the people of Yagba West local government to put sentiments aside and vote for Oluyemisi Oshaloto for a better representation.
