Kogi State Government says it is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that it maintain it lead in quality education in Northern Nigeria.
Hon. Wemi Jones, the Kogi State Commissioner For Education Science and Technology, made the disclosure at a presentation at the ongoing North-Central Human Capital Development Regional Conference at Ladi, Nasarawa State.
The Commissioner expressed optimism that the State is working towards ensuring that it maintain it lead as the least State with out of school children in the North.
Hon. Jones says the State Government is working to bring to a zero level if possible the number of out of school children, pointing out that through deliberate efforts, the State Government has repositioned the education sector of the State to be an envy in the country.
The Commissioner says the State has taking education as the business of everybody, pointing out that it is no longer fashionable for education to be left in the hands of Government alone, reason why all stakeholders are involved, working with the Government to reposition the sector.
Hon. Jones added that the present administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello has worked to ensure quality and standard in the education sector through adequate budgetary allocation, praised Gov. Yahaya Bello for budgetary allocation that takes about 30% of annual budget for education.
Through the enacted Education law, the Commissioner says the State has been able to tackle many issues militating against the education sector, says with the education law, it is now criminal for any child of school age not to be a school.
