The Project Coordinator of the Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (KG-RAAMP), Engineer Sheidu Obansa Adamu has again lauded the New Direction administration of Governor Yahaya Bello for his rural-friendly disposition aimed at turning around the economic well-being of the people.
Engineer Obansa who made the remarks during a presentation of the milestone attained so far at the Retreat and Capacity building Workshop for some political actors, the state project monitoring committee (SPMC) and State project implementation Unit (SPIU) held in Abuja, reiterated his determination to making the project a success in the state.
The Coordinator noted that with the robust support from the State Government, the guidance of the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) of RAAMP and due diligence being exhibited by the staff, the project will be enduring for the people adding that it is itching close to the commencement of civil works in the various phase of interventions having recorded significant milestones in that regard.
While commending Governor Yahaya Bello for speedily assenting to the bills establishing the Rural Access Road Agency (RARA) and the State Road Fund (SRF),Engineer Obansa urged the participants to see themselves as team player in the overall success of the project stressing that the retreat and capacity building was to reshape , refocus and keep them abreast of the developments and appealed for increased funding of the project by the state government so as to address the challenges that may arise when civil work begins.
In a remark, the National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engineer Aminu Muhammed Bodinga commended Kogi RAAMP for organizing an all- encompassing Retreat and Capacity building Workshop which is in line with the Training Needs Assessment of the Project and called on the Political actors to be remain supportive to the actualization of the goals of the project aimed at addressing rural poverty.
Engineer Aminu charged the various stakeholders to rise to the occasion and be pro-active to enhance the economic fortunes of the rural populace adding that the time is now for hands to be on deck.
The National Coordinator used the occasion to advise the Kogi SPIU to take advantage of its proximity to the National office for accelerated attention when the need arises.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Energy and Rural Development, Engineer Muktar Muhammed noted that the objectives of RAAMP are in tandem with the rural transformation drive of Governor Yahaya Bello, hence the government huge support to the project.
Engineer Muktar said it is a thing of joy to see to that the goals of all -year season roads in the rural communities comes to fruition and expressed delight that civil works shall commence as soon as ‘No Objection’ is obtained in the relevant quarters.
The commissioner while calling on the staff of the project to remain dedicated, pledged unalloyed cooperation to the success of the project.
Highpoints of the retreat and capacity building workshop was the various paper presentation by resource persons from LAHASS consult led by Dr. Lawal Ismail with the National Coordinator Engineer Aminu Muhammed Bodinga, the Commissioner of energy and Rural Development Engineer Muktar Muhammed, SPMC members led by its Chairman and permanent secretary of the Ministry of Rural development Alhaji Hussein Isah and the SPIU led by Engineer Sheidu Obansa Adamu were in attendance and upon completion of the week-long capacity building workshop were awarded certificates.
