Unity in Diversity: A Historic Milestone of Governor Yahaya Bello

_…he will instill this abstraction to set Nigeria on the right path comes 2023_

Going back to memory lane, the symbol of bridge builder and detribalization, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh Yahaya
Bello while presenting his inaugural speech in 2016, he quoted the words of Martin Luther King Jr, saying “we have to learn to live together in peace as one people, else we perish together as fools”

It is expedient to mention that, before the emergence of Gov Bello, Kogi State was the most polarized and ethnocentric society in Nigeria with not less than 10 ethnic groups having major ones as Ebira, Igala, and Okun, and minor ones are kupa, Oworo, Bassa Nge, Ogori magongo, Bassa Komo, Kakanda, Gwari and others too many to mention.

In Breaking this Hydra headed Ethnic chauvinism in 2016, Governor Bello launched a unifying non Political Ideology called *EBIGO*. An ideology whose policy among others gave birth to achievements such as;

✓ The Institutionalization of equity for all Kogites irrespective of tribe, religion or class.

✓ Holding the Unity of the State sacrosanct and non negotiable.

✓ Ensuring Equitable distribution of Political offices by carrying all tribes along and across all wards, LGAs and Constituencies in the State.

By findings, there are many other countries in the world for which ethno-religious diversity is more pronounced than what we have in Nigeria, but they succeeded in setting the standard of unity, same we are yearning for in our country of today, and here we have a youthful, resourceful, and energetic man with a nationalistic credentials who has set the values of unity right in Kogi, a State that is a persona of Nigeria, and an evidence he will position Nigeria well if given the chance.
