By joshua UMAR IMAM EMPOWERS 120 LOKOJA WOMEN WITH N50,000 EACH, URGES RESOLUTE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU, ODODO AND APC AHEAD OF 2027
Former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and APC Leader in Lokoja LGA, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam, has called on women in Lokoja to remain resolute in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Rt. Hon. Imam made the call on Saturday during an empowerment program for women of Lokoja LGA held at his GRA residence in Lokoja.
He said President Tinubu and Governor Ododo have remained committed to the wellbeing of citizens through people-oriented policies, and that women, as critical stakeholders in the electoral process, stand to benefit more under the APC.
“I appreciate Lokoja women for your unwavering support for the APC over the years. You have proven to be dependable, and you stand to gain even more in the coming days with President Tinubu and Governor Ododo at the helm,” he said.
The former Speaker expressed optimism that the APC would record a landslide victory in Lokoja LGA in 2027, adding that the party remains the dominant force in the state capital.
As part of the event, Rt. Hon. Imam disbursed N50,000 each to 120 women drawn from the 10 wards of Lokoja LGA. The total sum of N6,000,000 was distributed to support small businesses and improve household income.
He described the intervention as the first in a series of empowerment programs, with more initiatives planned in the coming months.
“This N50,000 support is to aid your businesses. This is just the beginning. More is coming in the days ahead,” he assured the beneficiaries.
He further urged APC members, particularly women, to remain united and committed, describing the Governor Ododo administration as one that is focused on unity, prosperity and the overall development of Kogi State.
In separate remarks, party leaders including Hon. Sam Abenemi, Chief David Ehimony, Hon. Suleiman Abdullahi Ndalaye, Hajia Fatima Buba, Hon. Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani (Team Best), and Comr. Abdulrahman Buhari, Kogi State APC Youth Leader, all reaffirmed their support for the leadership of Rt. Hon. Umar Imam.
They described Lokoja as the home of the APC and assured of total victory for the party in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu, described the gesture by the former Speaker as unprecedented. He said it has been Rt. Hon. Imam’s trademark to always stand for the people of Lokoja.
In their goodwill messages, the beneficiaries thanked Governor Ododo for creating the enabling environment for the empowerment and praised Rt. Hon. Imam for the initiative. They pledged their resolve to mobilize massively for the APC in 2027.
The event ended with prayers for continued peace, progress and prosperity in Lokoja LGA and Kogi State.
