
Two-Year Anniversary: Maigari of Lokoja Calls for Peace, Unity

The Maigari of Lokoja and Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, has called on residents of the ancient city to continue to uphold peace, unity and mutual understanding as he marked his second anniversary on the throne.
The monarch made the call during activities to commemorate the anniversary in Lokoja, where he expressed gratitude to God and the people for their prayers, support and cooperation since his ascension, describing the past two years as a period of service, learning and dedication to community development.
HRH Maikarfi IV urged traditional rulers, community leaders and youths to work collectively to sustain harmony and security in Lokoja, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains the foundation for meaningful development.
Highlights of the anniversary included recitation of the Holy Qur’an, special prayers for peace and unity in Lokoja and Kogi State, which was presided by the chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Muhammad Aminu Sha’aban, as well as the turbaning of Sarkin Maikafi, Wakilin Fulani and Sarkin Itace.
In a gesture of compassion, the royal father also distributed food items and cash to physically challenged persons as part of activities marking the anniversary.
The Maigari reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity among the diverse communities in Lokoja and pledged continued collaboration with government and relevant stakeholders to promote traditional values, peace and socio-economic development.
He commended the Kogi State Government for its continued support to traditional institutions and appealed for sustained partnership in addressing community challenges and strengthening grassroots governance.
The event attracted traditional title holders, community leaders, religious leaders and well-wishers, who offered prayers for the monarch’s continued good health, wisdom and a successful reign.
