As part of efforts to improve computer literacy amongst students of Igala extraction in Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Hon. Umar Yahaya has offered to sponsor twenty of the students to be computer literate.
Hon. Umar Yahaya made the disclosure at this year’s Igala Students Association Day organised by the Kogi Polytechnic Chapter, said the gesture is to assist their learning and understanding that is now mostly tailored towards computer base test.
Hon. Umar Yahaya, who was equally honoured by ISA with an Award For his immense support and development of Igala students at the Occasion, pledged to continue to do all within his reach to uplift educational development in Igala Land.
Hon. Umar who was a one time Chairmanship Aspirant in the last local government Election held in the state in December, hails from Omala LGA, said the twenty slots for the computer literate scholarship would be spread amongst students of the nine Local Government Areas in the Eastern Senatorial District.
Hon. Umar described education as an area that requires the support of all and sundry and should not be left in the hands of Government alone, added that the place of computer literacy in the lives of students can no longer be relegated to the background.
He thanked ISA for the award and recognition, assured that the honor would spur him to do more particularly in the area of education, said the computer training would last three months.
