TRIBUTE TO AWODI 1948-2021( 73 YEARS )


 

Dr. Yusuf Wilfred Awodi was born on the 9th November, 1948 at Ogbogodo in Egume Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State,he started his primary school at the Native Authority Primary School, Ofugo in the year 1958 and left in 1959 for the prestigious Ochaja Secondary School, Ochaja from 1960 to 1964, then attended the Government Secondary School, Okene 1965 to 1966, he also attended the famous Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1967 to 1970, the University of Leads in England, 1971 to 1972, from there to University of Manchester in England, 1981 to 1984, he is the first student to return to Ochaja Secondary School Ochaja as a teacher in 1967 to 1970, went to Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin from 1974 to 1977, then moved to MUCAST now Benue State Polytechnic as a Senior Lecturer 1977 to 1979 where he became Principal Lecturer and later Head of Department, Acting Rector in 1980, he was member, WAEC Accreditation Committee to School of Basic Studies, Ugbokolo in 1979, Member of Academic Affairs Committee of COHEADS, Member, Governing Council of the Directorate of Self Employment Scheme in Benue State, 1986 to 1989, he was also Senior Principal Lecturer and Head of Department Physical & Applied Sciences and Dean School of Technology, Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo in 1982, Coordinator, Makurdi Campus/Deputy Rector in 1984 to 1987, Acting Rector in 1987 to 1988 and the Rector 1988 to 1991 respectively, Member of Technical Committee on the Establishment of the Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja in 1992, Chairman Kogi State Advisory Committee of the National Directorate of Employment in 1995, Chairman Council of Heads of Polytechnics in Nigeria ( COHEADS ) in 1995 to 2000, Rector of the Great Federal Polytechnic Idah in Kogi State from 1992 to 2000, he later moved to the Kogi State University Anyigba now Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba as Head of Department Chemistry.
At Ochaja Secondary School Ochaja he was Best Student in Mathematics in 1962, Best Student in Chemistry in 1965, Best Student in Physics in 1966, all the award as School Prize,he has published many book, among them is the 6-3-3-4 System of Education and Employment Problem in Nigeria, Science Technology/Development. At the traditional level, Chief Dr. Yusuf Wilfred Awodi is Omachi Attah Igala with the salutation WALI, his hobbies are Lawn tennis, table tennis, Photography, Dr Yusuf Wilfred Awodi left us on Thursday 16th December, 2021 after a brief illness.
Ochaja Old Student’s Association 1964 set will miss you, the entire OOSA will miss you, Kogi State will miss you, Nigerians will miss you, my immediate and extended family will miss you,
May Chief Dr. Yusuf Wilfred Awodi soul rest in perfect peace, Aamen.
