Towards accreditation for CUSTECH to run medical program.
—A 9 man NUC team visits Reference hospital Okene, Kogi State, for resource verification exercise.

As part of requirements for the accreditation of the commencement of medical program by Confluence University of Science and Technology,CUSTECH, a 9 man team from the National University Commission,NUC, yesterday, 25th Match,2024, paid a visit to the Reference Hospital Okene, Kogi State, for resource verification.
The team led by the representative of the Vice Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology, were warmly received by the Chief Medical Director of the Reference Hospital Okene,Prof. Solomon Avidime.
The team was conducted round the hospital to various departments including the female medical and surgical wards, laboratories, pediatrics, emergency units,MRI,CT scan, dialysis, pharmacy, hyperbaric gas chamber etc.
In his remark, the CMD of the hospital,Prof. Solomon Avidime thanked the team for the visit, and expressed the readiness of the hospital to collaborate with CUSTECH in the realization of the proposed College of Medicine, noting that the hospital has what it takes to contribute it’s quota to the success of the University and serve as a teaching hospital.
The 9 man NUC team was led by Prof. Samuel Babafemi Olaleye, physiologist, University of Ibadan and Prof. Isiyaku Yarabi,Prof.of physiology,Bayero University, Kano.
Speaking with this journalist in her office, the Media and Information Officer of the hospital,Mrs Abigail Ayindero -Oyenibi, was full of commendation for the CMD, Prof.solomon Avidime,in his dogged commitment and unwavering efforts to reposition the hospital to take it’s rightful place in the medical world.
According to Mrs Abigail, the reference hospital Okene has been adjudged by medical experts as the best answer to medical tourism in Nigeria.
One of the highpoints of the hospital is the hyperbaric gas chamber, which is the first in Nigeria and one of the best in Africa,today.
She called on the people of the host community and beyond to avail themselves of the world class medical services at the hospital, at affordable cost.
The Media Officer applauded the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for his vision and deep sense of patriotism in establishing the hospital, which has become a mecca of sorts, as the level of patronage is highly encouraging by patients.
Recall that the Reference Hospital Okene Kogi State was commissioned by former President Muhammadu Buhari on the 29th December,2022.
