On the 21st of September, 2022, which was yesterday, A high powered delegation of Odumi Clan council of Ihima as led by the renowned and revered State man, *Rear Admiral Hamzat Sanni (Rtd) the Otase of Ebiraland (which means, the great warrior and hunter of Ebiraland).* Rear Admiral Hamzat Otase as a flag Officer, joined the navy in June 1963, he was sent to the prestigious Britanial Royal Naval College Dartmouth, England in October 1963 and commissioned in July 1966, just in time to participate in the Nigeria Biafra crisis. He held several appointments ashore and afloat, which include acceptance and command of newly acquired ships and navigated them back to Nigeria on two occasions – a rare opportunity in those days.
Other important appointments held were Chief of Naval Personnel and Naval Training at the Naval Headquarters, Chief of Naval Operation, Chief of Naval plans and Policy respectively Naval Headquarters. Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Flag Officer Sea Training, Western Naval Command Apapa, Nigeria’s Defense Adviser in India for about three years, Deputy Commandant, Command and Staff College Jaji among others. He in fact, became the first Officer of Ebira Origin to attain the rank of REAR ADMIRAL when he retired voluntarily on 31st December 1992, and has since, settled happily with his family, contributing his quota to Community and Societal building from his Country home in Ihima. He came alongside *Elder Zacchaeus Bello popularly referred to as (Adayi 77)* who is the chairman, Odumi Clan council, *Elder Audu* (Irachi) who is Community leader and a one time Administrator of Okehi Local Government, *Alhaji Idris Daniya* who is a Stateman and Chairman, APC elders council, Okehi LGA, among other prominent sons of Odumi clan.
The agenda of the visit, according to them is to appreciate the “people and peace oriented leadership style of their own Son, Barrister Salami M. Ozigi Deedat in whom the land is proud of”. While appreciating his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello the Executive Governor of Kogi State for placing such cardinal and crucial State responsibilities into the hand of their own, they used the avenue to pledge the clan’s unalloyed support, behind the political direction of Governor Yahaya Bello through the Honourable Commissioner.
Prayers for peace, during and after electioneering period were observed for the State and Nation.
