Born in July, 1966 in the ancient city of Okene, Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere kicked started his early education in 1975 at the ancient St. Andrews School, Okene, Kogi State. Engr. Ohere also attended Lennon Memorial College Ageva for his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
In his quest for knowledge, the young Abubakar Ohere proceeded to Study Engineering Course at the prestigious Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin in 1987 to 1989 where he obtained National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering and Federal Polytechnic, Idah from 1990 to 1992 for his HND.
Engr. Ohere holds a Masters Degree in Mining Engineering (M.Eng). He is a registered member of Professional bodies such as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Corporate Member, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Corporate Member, International Society of Explosive Engineers (ISEE) and Council of Nigerian Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG).
Prior to his appointment as Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor in 2016, Engr. Ohere has years of successful career as a management staff of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Abuja. He spent over 20years in the Federal Civil Service .
Engr. Ohere’s tenure as the Special Adviser to Gov. Yahaya Bello in charge of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs witnessed unprecedented development as he performed excellently well. These sterling qualities earned him the elevation to be appointed as the substantive Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in 2019.
Engr Ohere is vast in Administration, human resources management, grassroots politics and of course functional virtually in all sectors. A good example is his outstanding achievements in the Ministry of Works and Housing where he served as Commissioner.
No doubt, the beautiful projects supervised by the Engineer turned Politician in his capacity as the Commissioner for Works spread across Kogi State giving rise to infrastructural revolution in our Confluence State of opportunities. Indeed, Ohere is a master planner, Strategic executioner who is intellectually mobile.
Engr. Ohere is an astute Administrator per excellent, an engineer cum bulldozer, a great Philanthropist, Youth & Women emancipator, humble and hospitable and above all, Engr. Ohere is a generous politician which many referred to as Political Prime Minister.
The versatile and erudite former Commissioner of Works will undisputedly be a good representative to drive the yearnings and aspirations of the good people of Kogi Central at the Red Chamber come 2023.
