THE COMMISSIONING OF POLICE STATION IN EKIRIN ADE, KOGI STATE.
In a major leap forward for grassroots security, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, commissioned the magnificent Smart Divisional Police Headquarters in Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area today.The edifice, powered by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) Special Intervention Project, is equipped with modern surveillance, communication, and detention infrastructure.
Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s unrelenting commitment to security, declaring that “Kogi State is not a home for criminals or bandits.” He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courageous leadership in the war against insecurity and assured citizens that justice would always prevail. “With the right tools, logistics, and political will, we will continue to frustrate and wipe out criminal elements,” the governor emphasized, while urging community members to collaborate with security agencies and uphold law and order.
Representing the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, AIG Abubakar Zubairu described the project as a reflection of the IGP’s passion for digital, intelligence led, and community-based policing. He noted that the station, fitted with CCTV cameras, real-time communication tools, and citizen friendly interfaces will enhance police response, accountability, and professionalism across the region.
In his royal remarks, His Royal Majesty, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, commended the Police Trust Fund’s efforts that birthed the smart facility and described it as a milestone in the evolution of policing in the area. He thanked Hon. James Abiodun Faleke and the NPTF Executive Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Femi Shaibu, for their role in delivering the project.
Also addressing the gathering, Alhaji Mohammed Femi Shaibu, Chairman of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and a native of Ijumu, expressed deep pride in seeing the vision fulfilled. He lauded the strategic leadership of the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Saeed Mohammed, and affirmed the Trust Fund’s continued commitment to equipping the Nigerian Police Force with world-class infrastructure to meet 21st century challenges.
Earlier in the program, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, described the new divisional headquarters as a “bold statement of renewed commitment to justice, security, and responsive governance.” He highlighted its potential to reduce crime, improve emergency response time by up to 50%, and increase inter-agency collaboration. He urged for more manpower and mobility support to ensure the station operates at full capacity.
The commissioning ceremony drew dignitaries from government, royal institutions, the Nigerian Police Force, civil society, and the media. The newly completed facility marks a significant step in transforming Ekinrin-Adde into a beacon of safety, modernization, and community driven security in Kogi State.
