With the destruction of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki by the yet to be identified gunmen terrorising the south eastern part of the country yesterday, the entire Criminal Justice system; the Police, Court and Correctional custodian centre have been attacked.
These Criminal elements are directly destroying the economy of the south East. Any war – torn zone will not and never be attractive to investors. Very soon, traders from other parts of the country, and the continent will start avoiding Aba, Onitsha, Nwewi and other big markets in the geopolitical zone for the fear of their life.
Maiduguri which happens to be one of the best economies in the country has totally been destroyed by the activities of Boko Haram. This should have served as a big lesson to any sensible person.
I appeal to them to seek other ways of addressing their grevance. The elders of the region should seek for other means, possibly the carot and stick method of conflict resolution so as to bring this wanton destruction of lives and property to a halt.
