Suspended Kogi NYCN Chairman impeached, expelled from National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter.


 

COMMUNIQUE OF THE MANAGEMENT MEETING OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA, KOGI STATE CHAPTER HELD ON THE 5TH OF SEPTEMBER, 2023 AT KOGI STATE YOUTH HOUSE, LOKOJA, KOGI STATE.

 

 


INTRODUCTION
The National Youth Council of Nigeria’s Management meeting is the apex decision making body of the council. The management meeting is constituted by all organs of the youth body that forms the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

These are the State Executive Council, The 21 LGA coordinators, The Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYO) and the Stakeholders.

OBSERVATIONS
The Management meetings observed the followings:
That the Independent Investigation Committee Report is timely, apt and concise.

That the federal government has issued warning to states and communities at the coastal line to evacuate due to imminent flooding.

That the communities, especially in Kogi State are yet to hid to the warning.

That some of the communities have nowhere to go.

That some persons are yet to move because of the security of their properties that will be affected by flood.

That survivals have no trust in the relief distribution process.

That there is lack of inclusiveness of the youth and other vulnerable democracy in the relief distribution committee.

That relief materials mostly gets in the hands of non-flood survivals.

That the current economic situation is a challenge to evacuation.

That in Omala Local Government, flooding is not only the challenge, but resumed hostility between farmer and herders, especially in the Bagana area of the local government.

That if nothing is done quickly, the situation in Omala LGA will not only be a natural disaster but a humanitarian disaster too.

RESOLUTIONS
The following Resolutions were reached:
That the suspended Chairman is impeached and expelled from the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State Chapter.
That the Secretary and Treasurer are pardoned of their offenses of dereliction of duty.
That all stakeholders should intensify awareness on the federal government advisory.
That Kogi State Government should announce and declare open the various IDP centers to enable flood survivals to settle in good time.
That the flood disaster committee of the state should be an all-inclusive committee.
That the state government should monitor strictly the relief material distribution process to forestall it getting to non-flood survivals’ hands.
That special attention status be granted to Omala LGA in view of the renewed hostility to permanently put to an end the farmer herder crisis.
That state government should provide technical support in evacuating the survivals.
That adequate security should also be provided to the properties of survivals left in the flood to reduce hardship when water recedes.
