Surgery: Kogi NUJ Chairman Appeals to Government, Others For Support to Save Wife of Kogi Vanguard Correspondent in Need of N3.5m.


 

The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comr. Adeiza Momohjimoh has called on Gov. Yahaya Bello and other well meaning individuals to help save the life of Mrs Bolu Obahopo, wife of the State Vanguard Correspondent who was recently involved in a ghastly motor accident along Kabba Okene road.

The accident according to the NUJ Chairman occurred precisely on Friday 5th November, 2021 left five members of Mr. Obahopo dead, other critical injured.

Addressing a Press conference at the NUJ Secretariat Lokoja, the State NUJ Chairman paid glowing tributes to some State Government officials and individuals who had earlier supported the wife of the Vanguard Correspondent with donation, disclosed that the donation helped in preliminary treatment from Okene hospital, FMC and the National hospital Abuja.

The Chairman disclosed that the sum of N5m would be required for the surgery and post treatment, called on the state government and other well spirited individuals to save the life of the wife of the Vanguard Correspondent.

Comr. Adeiza used the Press Conference, to call on the National Assembly to strive towards putting in place an insurance policy for working Journalists, described the accident affecting the wife of the Vanguard Correspondent as one that calls for concern.

He called on the federal government to work towards fixing roads in the State, pointing out that the accident was occasion by the bad State of the roads.

Comr. Adeiza called on the federal government to work on Federal roads in the State, expressed dismay that Federal roads passing through the state have been left abandoned.

The NUJ Chairman lamented that working Journalists have been turned to beggers, called on the Vanguard newspapers and other media owners to make welfare a priority of their correspondents and reporters.

The Chairman called for donations to be paid into account details of Boluwaji OBAHOPO, UBA BANK, 2034447686, thanked the State Government officials and other officials for their support thus far.

 

He concluded by thanking the State Government officials for standing up for the Vanguard Correspondent when it mattered most but said much needs to be done to save her life and further damage to her body
