
Students Union Presidents Pass Vote Of Confidence On Education Commissioner, Dr. Paddy Iyamu

In a show of solidarity and deep appreciation, Students Union Presidents from tertiary institutions across Edo State have applauded the leadership style and administrative direction of the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu.
The commendation came following a strategic engagement between the Commissioner and a delegation of student union leaders aimed at strengthening collaboration between the state government and the student community.
The delegation which was led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Student Welfare and Development, Comrade Jimah Mubarak, emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue between student leaders and policymakers in shaping a more inclusive educational system.
He described Dr. Iyamu as a visionary educationist with a practical approach to policy implementation and student-centered reforms.
The student leaders lauded Dr. Iyamu for his open-door policy, responsiveness to student concerns, and unwavering commitment to the upliftment of educational standards in Edo State.
They particularly commended his proactive handling of academic disruptions, his intervention in infrastructural development across institutions, and his advocacy for student welfare and capacity development.
In their collective statement, the presidents described Dr. Iyamu as “a true academic reformer, who blends professionalism with compassion,” and acknowledged his efforts in bridging the gap between students and government institutions. They noted that his approach has created a more conducive environment for learning and leadership growth.
The student union leaders also used the occasion to restate their commitment to supporting educational reforms and called for increased involvement of students in governance and policy dialogues.
They expressed readiness to partner with the Ministry of Education on student-focused initiatives and programs geared towards innovation, civic engagement, and digital empowerment.
The highlight of the engagement was a unanimous vote of confidence passed on Dr. Paddy Iyamu, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the educational sector in Edo State. The students pledged to work in synergy with his office to drive sustainable change across campuses and ensure that the voices of students continue to be heard at the highest levels of governance.
