Some APC concerned group in Lokoja LGA have appealed to His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello to caution the Lokoja Local Govt Chairman and the APC Chairman of the local Government, MaiKudi Bature, on their alledged intimidation of Ward Chairmen and their secretaries.
The group made this appeal on Sunday evening after about 5 hours of meeting with some of the Chairmen at the Reverton hotel in lokoja.
The group in a statement signed by Dan Liman Wadada, alledged that the Chairman is threatening the Ward chairmen and their secretaries to canvass votes for those they alledged are Governor Yahaya Bello’s anointed candidates for the State Assembly and House of Representatives primary election slated for Friday 27th May.
The alledged that the duo in their directives to the ward chairmen said they were acting on the directives of the Governor Bello but lamented that as a group they are aware that no such directives have been given by the Governor.
One of the Ward Secretary who attended the meeting according to the group Chairmen threatened to remove any ward chairman who failed to vote for Hon. Assignment and Hon Aguye for both state Assembly and House of Representative respectively.
While we believe that His excellency has made his position known to the public that he has not anointed any candidate, we are worried about the continued use of the Governor’s name to scare our ward chairmen to manipulate or vote against their conscience.
We therefore appeal to the leader of the party Gov. Bello to caution the duo and to desist from creating problems capable of undermining the success of the entire primary election.
People must be allowed to vote their leaders through a legitimate process. This is the only way that guarantees credible and capable leaders.
