
Any staff of the Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) caught in shoody deals and other form of corrupt practices will be sacked, the Managing Director of the commission Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa, has said.
Yelwa stated this in a statement in Minna at the weekend.
The Managing Director explained that all staff should exhibit high level of honesty and transparency in all transactions of the commission.
According to him, ” We have started putting necessary measures in place to ensure full compliance with the commission zero tolerance for corruption. Any staff caught in shoddy deals would be sacked”.
He explained that HYPPADEC has recently conducted training for its staff to educate them on avoiding vices that could that could tarnish the reputation of the commission
He explained that plans to establish anti corruption unit by the commission has been completed adding that HYPPADEC is working in collaboration with anti corruption bodies towards ensuring that no room is created for vices inimical to the progress of the commission. He said, “We are very committed to promoting transparency and accountability in our system and this was the aim of the training workshop we organized last week in Minna
on strict compliance with assets declaration in conjunction with Code of Conduct Bureau.”
The Managing Director said staff have been banned from awarding of contract to avoid temptations inherent in such activities.
