SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO LATE HON. MOMOH SADIQ OMONORI [JAMAICA]

Early hours of November 6th, 2020, the rude unwarranted visitor, ruthless and faceless, called ‘death’, swung into action, laid its painful hands on our amiable brother, friend, son and father, Hon. Momoh Sadiq Omonosi, popularly called ‘Jamaica’.
Ajaokua Local Government and environ was thrown into mourning to an extent it had never was; political associates, friends and the relations showed the feelings of the sudden departure of the loved one.
It was a day I woke up from bed at 7am, with unusual emotion, my spirit was emotionally dead, physically weak and mentally abstemious. As at 8am, a closed-friend and political associate of mine, Hon. Suleiman Siraj, bombarded me with calls to inform me of the sad news of the sudden death of our bosom friend, Hon. Jamaica, as we fondly called him. While doubting the socking news, I had quickly contacted one of the deceased political associate, Hon. Salihu Onde, and he unavoidably confirmed. My immediate and unconscious question within me was; “Why is it Jamaica this time”? Who and who will rather capable enough to fill in the vacuum he is leaving behind?
The death of Hon. Momoh Sadiq Omonori, no doubt, came as a rude shock; it was a shock especially to his political admirers and leaders in the community, who fondly appreciate his forthrightness, honesty, simplicity and above all, his political ideology and consistency.
Since the sad event of dark November 6, 2020, people of Eganyi community and beyond has been in mourning mood. Jamaica, my bosom friend, I never believe you are dead hence your spirit is bountifully alive with me at all time.
It is unfortunate that Hon. Jamaica, who had good intention for his people, Ajaokuta Local Government, in general, could not be fortunate enough to fulfill his life aspiration, to contribute his quota to the socio-political emancipation of the area. It seems to me that what also important to our upcoming political youths is to learn from the sudden death of our dear brother, an ideal of not having permanent ambition but permanent interest to emancipate, empower and develop the citizenry during one’s life time. Hon. Jamaica was bold not to a fault as well as bluntly straight-forward. These are some of the attributes totally lacking in most of our upcoming young politicians in the area.
Hon. Jamaica, was one time a Supervisor of Agric. in Ajaokuta Local Government; and before his sudden demise, he serves as a Constituent liaison staff to Senator Yakubu Oseni, current Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial district at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Abuja.
In his condolence message, Senator Oseni described Late Momoh Sadiq Omonori [Jamaica], as a committed and obedient member of his constituent office in Ajaokuta Local Government; described him also as a peace-loving and steadfast person. Senator Oseni, further stated and I quote:

“As a staff in my constituent office in Ajaokuta Local Government, he was very prompt in discharging his duty, being a liaison office between my other constituents and my humble self, I will greatly and personally miss him and it is my prayer that God who deemed it fit to call him home at this point, will give the family and the people of Ajaokuta LGA and the environ, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May Allah in His infinite mercy forgive him all his shortcomings; also grant him eternal rest, Ameen”.

Nothing last forever even the shadow of a man leaves him when the sun goes down. This aptly describe human endeavour. I was made to understand, time heals all wounds, that all grief become history but to us in Ajaokuta Local Government, in particular, each passing day, it will come with pain, and of waking up, knowing that we will never see our ‘Jamaica’ again or hear his laugh. The vacuum created by his sudden death remains.
Hon. Jamaica, my bosom friend, you have left me when I less
expected. I pray Allah to grant you eternal rest and forgive
you all your shortcomings.
