The lawmaker representing Lokoja/kogi federal constituency, Hon Barr. Shaba Ibrahim has empowered 130 women in his constituency yesterday.
Hon. Barr Shaba, who is a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP gave #20,000 cash to each woman to bost their trade.
During the disbursement of the fund he declared that qualitative empowerment of the masses is far better than indulgences given to the people for gratification purposes.
Hon Shaba who made the declaration through his senior legislative aid, Hon. Yakubu Yunusa Chado, during the empowerment programme organized for the women of his constituency Lokoja/koto.
According to the lawmaker: “it is my covenant to ably represent and do resoundingly well for my Constituents through the intervention/constituency project’ platform provided us by the National Assembly as the representatives of the people, who knows the sports where shoes pinches the masses.”
The Sodangi Lokoja maintained that: “I will use every medium available to me as a lawmaker to bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people.
He equally stated that his next empowerment scheme will be for the youths and the unemployed and the award of scholarship.
Hon. Shaba further said the programme is meant to cushion the effect of the current economic recession and pray that the nation does not slip into depression, adding that his empowerment programme will continue assuring them of more to come.
In her remark, Hajiya Sadat Momoh, who is one of the beneficiaries, thanked Hon Shaba for the kind gesture saying that she nd other beneficiaries will make proper use of the fund given to them.
She called on other politicians to emulate Shaba who according to her has been assisting the poor.
It will be recalled that since Shaba assumed office it has been one empowerment or the other.
