Setting the records Straight on the involvement of Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji in CNNPF – Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo

Setting the records Straight on the involvement of Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji in CNNPF – Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo

The current Chairman of the Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF), Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo, alongside his team, wishes to categorically and unequivocally clarify to the general public the involvement and mentorship role of Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji in Christian Political Affairs.

Hon. Dr. Jaji is not a meddlesome interloper, as some have suggested. His engagement with the Forum was with the full knowledge and approval of Christian political leaders during his tenure as the Director General of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Campaign Council for the North-West.

During the 2023 Presidential Election, when many churches in Nigeria openly rejected the Muslim-Muslim ticket, the political environment became tense and divided along religious lines.

To address this, Mohammed Garba Barau (a.k.a. Commander) consulted me for advice on how to navigate the growing political-religious tension. I explained that politics should not be equated with religion and that some politicians were exploiting religion to manipulate and divide the electorate.

Recognizing that Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the APC presidential candidate, is a respected Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and given her long-standing integrity and service, I objectively advised support for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential ticket under the APC, the nation’s most populous party.

Consequently, there was a need to mobilize credible Christian leaders to align with the APC structure. Fortunately, Hon. Ado Ango, then Coordinator of the Katsina State Chapter of the Northern Nigeria Political Christian Forum (NNPCF), led us to Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, the APC’s Director of Administration.

Through the guidance of Rt. Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji, who at the time served as the APC Campaign Council Director, we were educated on distinguishing between politics and religion. He sensitized us to the dangers of using ethnicity, religion, and sectionalism as political tools.

Referring to the Christian leadership of Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, he emphasized unity and inclusion, which inspired many Christian politicians to adopt and support the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential candidacy.

Given our limited resources, Hon. Dr. Jaji generously sponsored the organization’s activities, funding mobilization efforts across the 19 Northern states and the FCT to endorse the Presidential ticket.

This marked the beginning of his active mentorship and support for CNNPF.

However, as time passed, the then National Coordinator became involved in fraudulent and self-serving practices, exploiting the platform for personal gain. Upon discovering this misconduct, Hon. Dr. Jaji convened a reconciliation meeting, during which the erring Coordinator walked out disrespectfully.

Consequently, Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo, then Deputy National Coordinator, was appointed to oversee the forum’s day-to-day operations.

Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji—a nationalist, philanthropist, and advocate for the “Renewed Hope Agenda”—has remained steadfast in promoting national unity. He introduced CNNPF to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who has since shown goodwill through generous support and donations.

It is therefore unreasonable to expect Hon. Dr. Jaji to remain silent while the organization he helped nurture and present to the presidency is mismanaged or used for fraudulent purposes. No responsible leader would watch their sacrifices and investments to be undermined.

Unfortunately, Mohammed Garba Barau (a.k.a. Commander), in his characteristic manner, has continued to fraudulently regroup unknown individuals—including Emmanuel Noah (Nogalss) and Amb. Kyambo, purporting to be patrons—without the consent or knowledge of Hon. Dr. Jaji, the Deputy National Coordinator, or the National Secretary.

This development has stalled the proper disbursement of donations made by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as directed through Hon. Dr. Jaji and Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters.

The new leadership under Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo (Chairman) and Hon. Ado Ango (Deputy National Coordinator) is currently reorganizing and restructuring the Forum to ensure transparency and proper accountability before handing over any pending dues.

That Hon Jaji was allegedly tagged as hijacking the leadership of Christian Northern Nigeria political Forum is not true but attempt by mischief makers to blackmail him for selfish and personal reasons.

We therefore urge the general public and media organizations to disregard the misleading claims of self-centered individuals who lack integrity and are bent on distorting facts.

Finally, we appeal to Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji not to be discouraged but to continue his noble efforts toward building a united Nigeria—one where religion, ethnicity, and sectionalism have no place—under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
