By joshua Senator Karimi Mourns Former Governor Ibrahim Idris: Describes Him As Father Of Modern Kogi
Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has expressed deep shock and profound sadness over the death of former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, CON, the Jakadan Sokoto.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday, Senator Karimi said the news of the demise of the former governor in the United Kingdom in the early hours of today came to him as a rude shock.
He described Alhaji Ibrahim Idris as a father of modern Kogi State, a statesman of uncommon humility, a builder of men and institutions, and a political colossus whose nine-year stewardship from 2003 to 2012 remains the golden era in the history of the state.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was a leader with a large heart. He governed Kogi with compassion, inclusivity and peace. He united our diverse ethnic groups, he built bridges of brotherhood and he laid the solid foundation upon which all subsequent administrations have built. He believed in people, he invested in people and his philanthropy touched countless lives across Kogi and beyond,” Senator Karimi said.
The Senator noted that the late Jakadan Sokoto was a detribalised Nigerian whose politics was devoid of bitterness, rancour and vindictiveness, adding that his administration recorded monumental achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, civil service reform and human capital development that remain indelible till date.
Senator Karimi said Kogi State has lost an irreplaceable elder statesman, a reservoir of wisdom and a father figure whose counsel and fatherly guidance will be sorely missed at this critical time in the life of the state.
On behalf of his family and the good people of Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Karimi commiserates with the immediate family of the deceased, particularly his wife, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim Idris, his children, the Government and people of Kogi State, and the entire PDP family, where he served as a member of the Board of Trustees until his death.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljanat Firdaus and grant his family and the entire state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“Rest in peace, Your Excellency. Your legacy lives on,” Senator Karimi added.
