By joshua SEE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE KOGI STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY, 8TH AUGUST, 2025
1. In his opening remarks, the Chief Servant of Kogi State and Chairman of Council, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, commended members of the State Executive Council for their steadfast support in fulfilling his campaign promises. He charged them to redouble their efforts to continue meeting the aspirations of the Kogi people.
2. His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo reaffirmed his unwavering support for the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. He acknowledged the President’s efforts in empowering sub-nationals to meet their obligations to the people and expressed the commitment of Kogi State to support his re-election in 2027.
3. Before the commencement of Council deliberations, the new Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr. Femi Bolarin, was sworn in. The Governor charged him to deploy his expertise toward boosting food security in the state.
4. The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development updated the Council on fencing and housing projects across institutions of learning in the state, noting that most of the projects have reached over 90% completion. Security gadgets have also been provided to enhance safety in these institutions.
5. Council approved the construction of a new Treasury House.
6. Council approved the construction of hostels for medical students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital, Okene, to provide conducive accommodation for their studies.
7. Council approved the rehabilitation of the Ohimege of Koton-Karfe Palace in Kogi Local Government Area.
8. Council also approved the construction of staff quarters for doctors at the Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital, Okene, to ensure they work under optimal conditions and deliver quality services to the people.
9. Council approved the completion of the Faculty of Engineering building at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, in line with the administration’s determination to provide world-class facilities for engineering students.
10. Council also approved the supply of furniture for students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.
11. Council approved the renovation of the Commissioner of Police’s official quarters in Lokoja to enhance his efficiency and welfare, in line with the administration’s commitment to supporting law enforcement agents.
12. Council also approved the lifting of the suspension of His Royal Highness Boniface Musa, Chairman of the Omala Local Government Traditional Council, who was earlier suspended for misconduct. The Council, having reviewed his remorseful conduct, granted him pardon.
