SECURITY: GOV BELLO RECEIVES NAVAL WAR COLLEGE OFFICIALS IN LOKOJA


 

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has reassured of his continued partnership with security agencies and personnel in ensuring increased security along the State’s inland waterways.

He spoke through his Deputy, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja when he hosted officials from the Naval War College, Nigeria, led by its Commandant, Rear Admiral S.A Akinwande at Lugard House Banquet Hall, on Monday.

The Participants, Naval Warfare Course 6 are on a 5-day environmental study tour in Kogi to conduct research and analysis while developing working strategies for the improved security architecture around the inland waterways.

Remarking, Chief Onoja who described Kogi as the centripetal force of Nigeria said Rivers Niger and Benue form Nigeria’s basin with a symbolic trace to Kogi as Nigeria’s confluence of opportunities. He lauded the Nigerian Navy, Kogi State Command for its proactiveness in combating emerging crimes along the waterways, saying the rapport with relevant security agencies helps the State rank top as Nigeria’s safest state.

He said insecurity remains a contemporary issue in modern Nigeria, assuring of Governor Bello’s unrestrained efforts to further collaborate with varied security agencies to entrench the protection of lives and properties in Kogi State.

Earlier, Rear Admiral Akinwande and the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) disclosed that considering Kogi’s geo-strategic location, the study tour will consolidate on Governor Bello’s blistering security architecture in the State. They upheld Governor Bello’s security portfolio, recalling that the hydrographic survey and charting of the Lower Benue and Niger Rivers flagged off by his administration were part of efforts aimed at the fervent utilization of Kogi’s inland waterways for the economic and security benefits of the people.

In attendance was the State Head of Service, Mrs. Hannah Odiyo, State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Faleke, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Idris Musa, and Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones. Others were the Deputy Commandant, A.O Ogunleye, and Directing Staff Members of the Faculty.
