Restructure Edo State Security Architecture For Effective Policing, Aiguobasinmwin Tells Gov OKpebholo

The Leadership and Members of AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE call on the Edo State Government under Governor Monday Okpebholo to review and restructure the current local security architecture to ensure effective policing and public safety.

The group in a statement signed by President, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, General Secretary Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson, and Diaspora Coordinator Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen, said “it is also regrettable that the much-publicized Edo State Vigilante Security Corps/VSCTF has, in many areas, deviated from its core mandate”.

According to the group, stated that the corps now function more as messengers, personal bodyguards, and garage touts rather than as community policing agents.

“We also note with concern the daily influx of persons/fulanis through the Benin -Auchi-Okene-Abuja road into Edo State, whose activities have been reported to be inimical to the lives and property of Edo people”.

We therefore urge the Edo State Government to initiate proactive steps to address and manage their influx.

We further advise Governor Monday Okpebholo to reintroduce the Neighborhood Watch Scheme and create sustainable Empowerment Programs for Edo youth.

Security is a fundamental responsibility of government and a matter of life and death. It must therefore be handled with seriousness, professionalism, and devoid of ethnic colouration. Edo people deserve a security system built on merit, competence, and fair representation.

We urge Governor Okpebholo to act swiftly in repositioning the security framework for the good of all Edo people .
