REJOINDER: DESPERATE POLITICAL MERCHANTS CANNOT DIM THE RISING SUPPORT FOR KARIMI
The Kogi West 4 Tinubu and Karimi Reelection Project (KW, TAKREP) has noted with concern a purported communiqué allegedly issued by some ward chairmen in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area claiming to have passed a vote of no confidence on Sunday Karimi, the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District.
Ordinarily, such a poorly orchestrated political drama would not deserve a response. However, because falsehood left unanswered may mislead the public, it has become necessary to place the facts in proper perspective.
The so called communiqué clearly bears the imprint of desperate political merchants who are alarmed by the growing popularity and massive grassroots acceptance that Senator Karimi continues to enjoy across Kogi West. From Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopamuro, Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas, the story is the same, the people are identifying with a senator whose voice on equity, fairness and responsible representation has remained clear and unwavering.
It is therefore not surprising that some faceless sponsors, threatened by the senator’s rising profile and the momentum of public support around him, have resorted to assembling a handful of individuals to manufacture a communiqué designed purely for media mischief.
The attempt to portray Senator Karimi as working against the party is not only baseless but also intellectually dishonest. Throughout his political career, the senator has remained one of the most consistent advocates for unity within the party and justice within the political structure of Kogi State.
Those behind this orchestrated statement know very well that the real issue is not party loyalty. Their fear is the growing political awakening in Kogi West and the widespread endorsement Senator Karimi is receiving from ordinary party members who appreciate courage, sincerity and purposeful leadership.
The laughable allegation that the senator is sponsoring so called shadowy groups is nothing more than a desperate attempt to smear his reputation and distract the public from the real conversation in Kogi West today, which is the senator’s performance, his advocacy for power equity in the state and the confidence the people have continued to repose in him.
The people of Kogi West are politically sophisticated enough to recognise propaganda when they see it. They understand the difference between genuine representation and the politics of intimidation, manipulation and stomach infrastructure.
We therefore urge the public and members of the All Progressives Congress to treat the said communiqué with the contempt it deserves. It clearly does not reflect the position of the majority of party faithful in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, nor does it represent the genuine feelings of the wider Kogi West electorate.
No amount of sponsored propaganda can erase the visible political reality across the district. The people of Kogi West remain firmly committed to the ideals of justice, fairness and credible representation.
Those attempting to create division within the party should be reminded that progress cannot be sabotaged by propaganda. The voice of the people will always prevail over the noise of political opportunists.
