By joshua REHABILITATION AND UPGRADE OF NEW KABBA WATER SCHEME TO COMMENCE IMMEDIATELY
Work is to commence on the rehabilitation and upgrade of the new Kabba water scheme.
Kogi State Commissioner for water resources, Engineer Yahaya M.D. Farouk , FNSE who made this known in his office in Lokoja said the contract is being handled by DALFAM NIG LTD.
Engineer Farouk said already, funds for the project have been released by the government in order to meet the yeaning and aspirations of the people.
He said the water project will be upgraded from initial design capacity of 500,000 liters/day to 2M liters per day in view of the increase in population and daily water demand of the populace.
The Commissioner explained that the contractor is expected to resume the site any moment from now, and assured that the project will be of immense benefit to the masses.
“The approval and release of the fund by the Chief Servant, His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is a further demonstration that the Governor means well for the people, he feels the pains of his people, and so is taking practical steps to address the challenges of potable water across the state. We must thank His Excellency for that.
Very soon the water issue in Kabba would be a thing of the past. Water is believed to have no enemy, the Governor knows this and so, water would flow everywhere across Kabba township”, the Commissioner remarked.
On the Lokoja Greater Lokoja water scheme, he said work has also commenced on the site, assuring that pumping will begin before the end of the year, while the old Lokoja water works will continue to provide water for parts of the metropolitan.
