The executive chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area Hon. Ebere Stephen Nwogba has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC and Security Agencies for their giant works in ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of the election in Abakaliki North constituency.
Speaking with Journalists at EBSU guest house polling unit, the council chairman hinted that the election has been so peaceful across six polling units in the constituency.
“the election has been so smooth and peaceful here, I have gone across the six polling units and the story is the same”
However, the Council boss urged candidates of the various political parties not to see the election as a do or die affair but show the spirit of sportsmanship and shun unnecessary acrimony while calling candidate that would emerge to be magnanimous in handling the affairs of constituency.
The Local Government chairman also called on the party supporters to abstain from electoral violence for the success of the exercise.
The special assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Projects monitoring Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam noted that the election was impressive, adding that voters turned out massively to vote candidate of their choices and noted that electoral materials arrived on time and Bimodal Voter’s Accreditation Systems,BIVAS was functioning effectively, while expressing optimism on the victory of his party in the election.
He enjoined candidates that would likely loose in the contest to accept defeat in a good fate as anybody who wins must have attracted so much love from the voters.
Meanwhile some of the voters who spoke to journalists shortly after casting their votes at the polling unit, including Nweke Chioma and Nwibo Anthony described the election as very transparent, peaceful and credible.
