RE: RECKLESS ONLINE CONDUCT OF “REAL MAMA KOGI” — A NECESSARY STAND AGAINST ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR IN THE PUBLIC SPACE

The recent arrest of the social media personality known as “Real Mama Kogi” is not only timely but a necessary response to the growing wave of reckless and inciting content being disseminated online under the guise of freedom of expression.
As the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on Social Behaviour, I wholeheartedly commend the swift intervention of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, in ordering her arrest. The move reinforces our government’s firm stance on promoting responsible conduct — both offline and online — and protecting the peace and values of Kogi State.
No society can thrive where individuals weaponize social platforms to spread misinformation, stir tension, and undermine public order. The anti-social content put out by @realmamakogi is a sad reflection of what happens when unguarded speech is left unchecked. It is deeply irresponsible and cannot be justified under any civilised standard.
The State Government’s decision to hold her accountable should serve as a clear warning to others who recklessly use digital platforms to push or sponsor divisive narratives, fan political propaganda, or promote instability.
Freedom of speech must never become freedom to destroy. We must all remember that civic responsibility applies in both our actions and our expressions.
Hon. Rufai Enero Sule
Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on Social Behaviour.
