Re: OPEN LETTER TO KOGI WEST ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC)

Our attention has been drawn to a publication by certain individual. The purported open letter was apparently written with malicious intention comes across as an attempt to malign the character of the person of Hon. Karimi. Ordinarily, we should not have responded to such unfounded stories or insinuation because silence, they say, is a noble answer.

Also we do not intend to join issues with you and your sponsors so as not to give credence to what is clearly an issue of bad memories and mediocrity.

However, it is imperative to educate the author on certain facts and realities and to encourage him and his ilk on how best to pursue one’s aspirations.

It is alleged in your write up that Hon. Karimi  contested, won under the Alliance for Democracy ACN and abandoned the party six month after. By this singular allegation it is apparent that the writer does not possess even the smallest of idea of what happened in the event he so desperately desire to analyze.

In the first instance, Hon. Karimi was never a member of the ACN neither did he at any point openly consider any intention to contest for the House of Representatives election then. Hon. Karimi contesting and winning that election was a demonstration of the power of political ‘Movement’. It was a product of political movement within the People’s Democratic Party PDP.  It was never a Karimi idea. Hon. Karimi was just a beneficiary of that emancipation movement. And since it was not his idea, Hon. Karimi as a man of integrity simply had to go by the plans and decisions of the ‘Movement’ which was to come back to the PDP.

It is instructive to note that his, that is Hon Karimi’s, coming back earned him the precious title of ‘Mr. Integrity’ and was celebrated by the leadership of the Movement for not betraying their trust and that trust consequently earned him his second term, making him the first representative of Yagba Federal constituency to be re-elected.

Secondly, you mentioned how Hon. Karimi was busy preoccupying himself abusing His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello. You also got this very wrong. It is almost as if the meaning of the word ‘abuse’ is unclear to you. For your information and purpose of clarity there is a very wide difference between constructive criticisms and abuse. Constructive criticism is aimed at correction.

Hon. Karimi like any elected representative worth their calling as servant of the people is morally bound to do everything possible within the ambit of the law and good conscience to promote good governance,  defend the interest of his constituents which may entail constructive and sometimes intense engagement with the Chief Executive who presides over the peoples commonwealth, and to also praise him when he does well.

Let it also be known to you that the Governor belongs to the people and not a particular party. So if the engagement between Hon. Karimi and the Governor of his State is what you perceive to mean abuse, then you it is unfortunate.

Also remember that after several engagements between them, Hon. Karimi as a matured and intelligent person agreed with certain arguments from the government side and resolved to work for the re-election of the same Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. Hon. Karimi did not only work for Bello’s re-election but he openly defected to the All Progressive Party along with his teeming supporters. He has added enormous value to the party, supporting party activities, and the presidential ambition of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.   Hon. Karimi is a bonafide member of the APC, a respected and acknowledged leader of repute.

I can only advice you to drop your guns, step down on negative campaigns, focus on your project and showcase what your aspirant has done, his capacity and competency since you acknowledged that Hon. Karimi is now praising the same Governor and because of that, you are becoming perturbed.

Conclusively, in the interest of our dear party and the good people of Yagba, Kogi West, Kogi State and Nigeria, I am appealing to you not to engage in internal wranglings, unproductive fights and, of course, that you should refrain from fighting the grace of God upon Hon. Sunday Karimi. Let us use our energy to build our great party.
