Nigerians have been asked to imbibe the culture of making the welfare of orphans in the society a part of their duties.
Wife of Kogi State Former Deputy Governor, Omolara Tokunbo Awoniyi, made the call in her usual visit to orphanage homes.
Mrs Awoniyi was at the Margret Ohiani Orphanage home as part of activities to mark the Christmas celebration with the Children, said it is no fault of the children to be orphans, reason why there welfare should occupy the minds of well meaning individuals.
She called on public spirited individuals, organizations in the State to see visit to Orphanages and in Supporting their welfare as a call to duty in service to God and humanity.
Mrs Awoniyi who was represented by Mrs Idowu Adedotun Abu, disclosed that Christmas signifies love, sharing with the less privilege, tasked Nigerians to make the society a better place by showing kindness and love to orphans, less privileged as well as the vulnerable in the society.
Mrs Awoniyi used the opportunity to advised the children to see their current challenges as a phase by being discipline and to work hard, assurred that with commitment and dedication to their studies, they would achieve their goals in life.
She commended the management of Margret Ohiani Orphanage home for their sacrifices, assurred that no one caters for orphans and would not receive earthly and heavenly rewards.
Highlights of the visit to the home was the provision of Foods, clothings, shoes bedsheets and the replacement of all the window nets in the home by Mrs Awoniyi.
The Children were also treated to a christmas party.
Speaking on behalf of the home, Mrs Ejembi Rufina, described the consistency of Mrs Awoniyi to the home as Unprecedented, prayed God to grant her the strength in good health and prosperity to continue with her good works.
