Politicians have been asked to play by the rules so as not to put the country in crisis.
The Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comr. Adeiza Momohjimoh made the plea when he received in audience the Kogi State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mrs Oluyemisi Florence Olorunshola,
Comr. Adeiza said no one will be safe in an atmosphere of violence, described peace as the bedrock for sustainability development.
While pointing out that no Politician will aspire to be anything in the country if the country is on fire, insisting that politicians must guide against inflammatory comments.
The NUJ Chairman noted that the electoral act has put in place measures to ensure credible polls and a peaceful coexistence, stressed that the time for caution by the political class in ensuring that the State is safe ahead the inauguration of the incoming administration is now.
The Chairman said the Media in the State will continue to serve as a gate keeper for peace to reign, promised unbiased report ahead the forthcoming Kogi State Governorship election from members of the NUJ.
The NUJ Chairman called for proper funding for the National Orientation Agency, said in view of their immeasurable role in sensitization and enlightenment, the issues of funding must be made paramount.
Oluyemisi Florence Olorunshola, Patrick Edogbanya, Deputy Director, Human Resource Management, said the visit by the agency is to seek partnership with the media on the need for peaceful reporting and coexistence..
