PLAN INTERNATIONAL PARTNER NIGER TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND NUTRITION OF MOTHER’S AND CHILDREN’S

The Niger state government
says it will continue to work relentlessly with all stakeholders and investors in the health sector to ensure reduction in morbidity and mortality in the State.

 

The wife of the Niger state Governor,Dr Amina Abubakar Bello made the statement at the flag off ceremony of material, newborn and child health week in Minna yesterday.
Dr Amina Abubakar sani Bello stated that any person or group of people found to be jeopardizing the health and well-being of the people shall be made to face the full wreath of the law.
The wife of the governor stated that Her office in collaboration with primary Health Care Development Agency have conducted health programme in safeguarding the future generations.

According to the first Lady the momentum of this week flag off is an indication that the vaccine preventable diseases will be eradicated in the near future.

She called on all pregnant mother’s and women to visit the focal clinic in their wards to access health services.
She appealed to all women group, traditional and religious institution to continue to mobilise and sensitive the benefits of safe motherhood and vaccination practices.

Earlier in his speech at the occasion,Plan International Nutrition and Behavior Change Communications Coordinator,Dr Prince O Uchenna said that plan International Nigeria will actively focus on improving the health and nutrition of women, girls and children’s through provision of micronutrient supplementation and other life saving nutritional services.

Dr Uchenna stated that Plan International will continue to seek for more avenues to provide support to adolescent girls,women and children in the state.

He added that the project has improved access to qualify and cost effective micro nutrient supplements such as Iron,and folic acid, vitamin A,micro nutrient powder,Anti malaria prophylaxis in pregnancy among others

He said the ambition of Plan International to ensure that ten million girls whom might have been unable to learn,lead,decide and thrive are supported to reach their goals.
Dr Uchenna then appreciate the exemplary leadership and the political support for nutrition response in thé state.

He reiterate Plan International commitment to consistently support the bi-annual MNCH Campaign and other initiatives.
