By Ikhili Ebalu, Benin City

Following the 7 days ultimatum issued to Federal Government by the ex militants of Uhrobo and isoko bombers requesting the federal government to re award the pipeline surveillance contract for the sustenance of peace in the Niger Delta, the Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta has called on the Ex Agitators to remain calm ànd give the Federal Government enough time to address their demands.

The General Deadman-led Isoururhorobo recently disclosed to the Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta that the ultimatum would not be called off except the Federal Government reverse the trend of awarding pipeline surveillance contract to politicians.

He noted that as a mark of respect to the Peace Initiative organization who has worked tirelessly to ensure there is peace in the area, he has called on his foot soldiers to remain calm within these 7 days after which, a decisive action would be taken by the group.

This was made known to Newsmen by the President of Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta, Comrade Toluwa Mulade through a press statement signed and made available to Newsmen in Warri.

He said the ex militants agreed to be calm within these 7 days to watch if the Federal Government would harken to their demands by re awarding the contracts on the ground of equity and fairness to all who have contributed to the struggle to ensure lasting peace in Niger Delta.

According to him, the isoko and Urhobo bombers threatened that if after this 7 days elapsed and the federal government refused to attend to their demands would resume bombing of oil and gas facilities in and around Urhobo and Isoko lands to drive home their demands.

Comrade Toluwa Mulade whose organization has championed peace in Niger Delta since 2006 and in 2019 intervened in the release of 10 Turkish Sailors who were kidnapped on the high Sea enjoined Federal Government to call on those who were awarded the contracts to carry all the ex militants along to avoid unnecessary bickering among the ex militants further called on the FG, and the ex agitators to find a level playing ground to resolve the issues .

Comrade Toluwa Mulade further called on the Deputy Senate President, Senator Omo Agege to called on his brother Jimmy Omo Agege to carry the ex millitants within his domain along in the pipeline surveillance contract that was awarded to him as that would promote Peace in the area.

He however stressed that his organization, the Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta and other peace Iniative organization would not watch and allow things to deteriorate , after putting so much effort to bring in peace in the Niger Delta but have chosen to nipped the looming trouble to the bud.

He added that allowing Peace to reign in the Niger Delta region is very sacrosanct in this period where election is just by the corner.

He however emphasized that the Federal Government,NNPC, Deputy Senate President, Senator Omo Agege and Amnesty coordinator ,Major General Barry Ndiomu should all find a way to amicably resolve the demands of the ex agitators and ensure the upcoming election is free , fair and transparent in the Riverine areas of Niger Delta.
