PDP Zoning to the South: Barrister Nyesom Wike Has Been Vindicated
We welcome the decision of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to officially zone the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to the Southern region of Nigeria—a move long overdue, yet ultimately courageous.
This resolution does not only restore a vital sense of fairness and equity within our great party, it also serves as a powerful vindication of the principled stand taken by His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
When it was politically risky and personally costly, Barrister Wike stood firm on the constitutional ideal of rotational leadership—not for personal gain, but in defence of justice, inclusivity, and party unity. His unwavering advocacy during the 2022–2023 internal debates was grounded in the PDP’s founding principles of balance, fairness, and respect for all zones in Nigeria.
Today, as the party returns to the path of equity, history records Barrister Wike not as a rebel, but as a visionary leader whose foresight, courage, and patriotism have now been affirmed.
We call on all members of the PDP, across all zones, to close ranks and rally around this zoning decision as a foundation for national reconciliation and electoral victory in 2027.
As we move forward, let this serve as a reminder that truth may be delayed, but it cannot be denied. Indeed, Barrister Nyesom Wike has been vindicated.
