The member representing Abakaliki North Constituency, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon.Victor Chidi Nwoke has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP along side his supporters to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC in the State.
The lawmaker who defected during the official flag off of local Government Committee of BERWO, the Pet Project of the wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State at Abakaliki Local Government Area.
The lawmaker cited lingering and irreconcilable crisis rocking the PDP both in the State and the National level as what formed his decision to dumped the party so as be focused and give the much needed democracy dividends to his constituents as earlier promised during his campaign as well as the monumental achievements and leadership prowess of the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru anchored on the Peoples Charter of Need.
According to him”The crisis pitching between the former Vice President of Nigeria and the party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the immediate past Governor of Rivers State and current minister of FCT, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike which is causing a lot of disquiet within the party”
“The party has seriously engulfed in leadership crisis to the extent that it has polarised the party into fierce contending groups and has left one of the factions a nose-diving into a serious insignificance and failed attempts to upstage the National Chairman who is believed to be a stooge of the minister of FCT, this has bedeviled the party into leadership struggle, the leadership struggle between Wike and Atiku has witnessed an unprecedented loss of members to other political parties even as it grapples with its own micro crisis”.
“More So, due to the leadership prowess of the Governor of Ebonyi State Gov. Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru which is centered on the Peoples Charter of Need, The Governor of Ebonyi State is a paradigm of perfection, an apportioisis of human care and succour, his administration has exemplified the tenets of humanitarian services and superfluous expressions of human earning , the governor is a crumbus interparus, a rare gift to human race whom we cannot do without, hence my resolve to join APC today”.
The lawmaker defected with the Labour Party Chairman Abakaliki LGA, Mr Innocent Oriji who is one of his hardcore supporters, the former leader Abakaliki legislative council, Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu and over thousands of teeming supporters.
Also defected was the PDP candidate for Abakaliki South Constituency in the 2023 general election general elections Hon. Lazurus Nwoba Nwonuku said he decided to join the party to support Governor Nwifuru’s led adminstration.
He pledged to contribute his quota and bring out initiative towards taken the party to the next level and for the success of the State Governor.
The state chairman of APC Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha who welcomed the lawmaker and other PDP faithfuls into the fold of APC said that the decampees have finally arrived in the home they rightly belonged to and assured them of a level playing ground, promising that he will be carried along in the scheme of things even as their rights would be fully protected.
The National treasurer of APC Mr Matthew Uguru described BERWO project as essential idea and expressed optimism that it would impact lives positively in the Council and called all and sundry to accord it utmost priority.
He urged decampees of PDP into APC family to play according to the rules and regulations of party at all times, adding the party is large to accommodate more defectors.
The SSA to the Governor on youth mobilization Hon. Chinedu Emerike, SA to the Governor on finance and special duties Hon. Nwali Amechi and SA to the former Governor of the State on road maintainance Hon. Ben Nwovu all threw their unwavering support and solidarity to Mrs Nwifuru towards achieving the purpose of her pet project in the State.
The wife of the governor of the State, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka welcomed the decampees on behalf of the governor of the State and assured them of total inclusiveness.
