PDCRC HOSTS END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATION/AWARD TO BEST STAFF
The Kogi State Office of the Public Defender and Citizens’ Rights Commission (PDCRC), hosts her 2024 End-of-Year celebration/award to best staff. In his opening address, the Director General, PDCRC, Musa Onogo Idris, Esq. commended the heads of Departments, Law Officers and staff of the Commission for their commitments to duty throughout the year. He applauded Officers for their diligence and dedication in handling matters brought before the Commission.
While reflecting on the Commission’s contributions to the administration of justice, the DG noted that PDCRC demonstrated exceptional commitments to the discharge of her mandate which include the provision of legal aid and other related services to the indigent, vulnerable and disadvantaged residents of the State; settlement of matters through the Alternative Dispute Resolution unit and the preservation and protection of the fundamental human rights of residents of the State. He urged all personnel to sustain the momentum in the coming year.
He praised the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo for his exemplary leadership and for upholding justice and the rule of law in the State. He also expressed gratitude to His Excellency for his huge supports for the smooth operation of PDCRC.
He also appreciated the Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ministry of Justice, Kogi State, Hon. M.Y. Abdullahi, SAN for his key roles in the effective discharge of the Commission’s mandate. The DG equally extended gratitude to the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Kogi State, Hajia Falilat Yusuf, Esq. for her assistance to the Commission.
The DG noted that the end of year celebration and award ceremony was sponsored by Mr. Joshua Yusuf who is based in the US. “We greatly thank him for making this end of the year celebration a memorable one, may God bless him” the DG added. He reiterated the fact that Mr. Joshua had made plans to support the activities and programmes of the Commission.
The PDCRC end of year celebration also witnessed award/cash prize presentation to the best Law Officer and the best Admin or Account Personnel. The DG noted that the award is in recognition of outstanding performance and exceptional service to the Commission and the State.
The DG said “I can select the person I considered best for the award/prize but I want everyone to participate by vote; taking into cognizance attributes such as punctuality, dressing and attitude to work. “The selection of personnel for the two (2) categories of award will be done by vote”. He however stated that Ibenu Emmanuel Esq., and himself were exempted to be voted for.
At the end of the voting, Ameh Friday, Esq. Senior Legal Officer/DG’s Legal Assistant emerged as best Law Officer of the year and was presented the cash prize of the sum of Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000), while Mrs. Oyibo Rosemary Ojone, Head of Account Unit and Mrs. Latifat I. Abdullahi, Secretary both emerged as best Staff in the Admin/Account category. They received cash prize of N5,000 each.
The recipients of the award/cash prize specially thanked the DG for his kind gesture and prayed for more blessings for him and the Commission.
Emmanuel Ibenu, Esq., Head of Criminal Litigations while presenting the award/cash prize to the recipients on behalf of the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Justice, Hajia Falilat Yusuf, Esq. noted that the staff of the Commission had done well. He particularly commended the recipients of the award for their efforts and dedication to duty and charged them to do more.
Goodwill messages were received from the Head of Administration, Mr. Victor Arokoyo, the Head of Criminal Litigations Department, Emmanuel Ibenu, Esq., the Head of Account Unit, Mrs. Rosemary Ojone Oyibo and others who took turns to appreciate the DG PDCRC for his kind visionary leadership characterized by meticulous attention to details and relentless pursuit of access to justice for the indigent and vulnerable residence of the State.
As the PDCRC looks forward to 2025, the shared resolve was one of optimism, unity, and renewed commitment to advancing justice and protecting the fundamental human rights of residents of Kogi State.
Prayers was offered for leaders and partners of the Commission for divine wisdom, preservation and blessings.
