Payment of Hazard Allowance to Health Workers : Kogi NLC boss commends Gov. Ododo
Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari says Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has written his name in gold through the payment of Hazard Allowance to health workers in the State.
Speaking to newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, Comrade Amari said the gesture by the Governor has showed that he is a man of his words.
According to him, the Hazard allowance was approved by the immediate past administration, but was not fully implemented, noting that the full payment of the allowance would further enhance the morale of the health workers.
The NLC Chairman who doubles as the State Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring renewed commitment to duty.
He maintained that the improvement in the salaries of local government workers and primary school teachers is also commendable as it further proved that the promise to improve workers welfare is real and being pursued genuinely.
Comrade Amari expressed satisfaction on the performance of the vibrant Governor who is determined to turn around the narrative, thereby making workers welfare a priority.
He however, appealed to the Governor to look into the issue of wage award by putting up a committee to work with labour without further delay.
Comrade Amari added that the workforce was confident that the present era of governance with labour leader as Deputy Governor would speak volume and thanked him, Joel Salifu Oyibo for demonstrating capacity and integrity so far.
