Rotary club of Lokoja Metro, District 9125 has conferred Paul Haris Fellowship Awards on five distinguished Nigerians.
The Presidential Award ceremony organized under the Twelfth President Rotarian (TPL) Sani Daniel attracted dignitaries from within and outside the State to Lokoja the Kogi State Capital.
The Rotary President Rotarian ( TPL) Sani Daniel in his opening remarks described the event as a Landmark in the history of the club.
He congratulated the awardees on their well deserved recognition as a result of their humanitarian activities which he noted has impacted the society positively.
While urging them to create more impact in promoting fairness, Justice and peace in the world he advised them to sustain the momentum.
The president acknowledged the talented men and women who have been working with him tirelessly in the Rotary year as board of Directors.
He noted those presented with awards as Paul Haris fellow are individuals who have contributed generously to the vission and mission of Rotary International and it’s seven areas of focus.
The President noted that this year, the club had renovated mercy orphanage Home, acquisition of land for the construction of recreational park, training and children development center and Rotary house as the club’s signatory project.
According to him, in addition to the club’s star projects, it has carried out free medical outreach programs , contributed and engaged largely in polio eradication in the country.
Rotarian Sani Daniel explained that the club is seeking partnership with ministry of environment and natural resources and the kogi state sanitation and wast management board on sanitation and wast management in the state.
The president disclosed that the club has designed a robust package as service option towards alleviating the the effect of the covid19 pandemic in the society.
The guest speaker and Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja Doctor Usman Ogbo in a lecture with the topic”community service” described Rotary as community service personified.
Doctor Usman Ogbo noted that humanitarian service is devoid of religious, ethnic or class coloration.while appreciating Rotary for it’s humanitarian services across the globe he commended their leadership succession template which he said should be emulated by all.
In a Goodwill message, the General manager of kogi state Town planning and development board represented by the Director of Administration and finance Mohammed Abubakar commended Rotary club for it’s support to the poor and vulnerable in the society.
He explained that their humanitarian gestures is key to societal peace and stability.
In a remark the president elect professor John Alabi described the president Rotarian (TPL) Sani Daniel as an articulate humanitarian who wealth of experience has prepared him for service and urged him to continue to serve humanity with the best of his ability.
Speaking at the event the kogi state Commissioner for solid minerals and Natural resources Engineer Abubakar Basir Gegu described the event as unique and congratulated his friend and one of the awardees from Sokoto Engineer zayyanu Yabo Tambari on his well deserved recognition.
Other awardees include, chief Silas Okpanachi Egbita, the CEO of Diamond City Group Limited Abuja, Rotarian Engineer Jezhi Paul Yaro, Rotarian Joel Haruna and Alhaji Abdullahi Friday Idachaba.
