By joshua PAAU VC Deploys Two Security Vehicles, Vows ‘No Hiding Place’ For Cultists
The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, PAAU, Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, has rolled out fresh security measures to check cultism and other crimes on campus, with the donation of two operational vehicles to security operatives.
The move the Vice Chancellor disclosed is proactive steps towards enhancing security in the Campus.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ security meeting in Anyigba, Professor Ogbo said the University will not wait for threats to escalate before acting.
“We do not wait for security challenges to overwhelm us. Our administration is building proactive structures to prevent crime and protect lives and property,” he said.
One of the vehicles, he explained, is dedicated strictly to anti-cultism operations, while the second will support routine patrols across the campus and adjoining communities.
He acknowledged the support of the Kogi State Government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that the intervention would boost response capacity.
Allaying fears, the VC debunked a viral video purporting to show cult activities and a burial on campus. He said the footage was old, recorded years ago in another state, and had no link to PAAU.
“The video is entirely false and should be disregarded. While a few criminal elements may be testing the waters, they will find no hiding place here,” Professor Ogbo stated.
The University has also set up a Committee on Deviant Behaviour to counsel and rehabilitate students involved in anti-social conduct.
“We will give room for reform. Students willing to renounce unlawful groups will be reintegrated. But those who remain defiant must face the law,” he warned, adding that “before any student graduates, he or she must be found worthy in both learning and character.”
The Ogohi of Anyigba, Chief Shaibu Okolo, and Dekina LGA Chairman, John Urah Ikani, applauded the VC’s steps and pledged support from traditional and local government structures.
Heads of security agencies, commercial motorcycle operators, and community leaders who attended the meeting agreed that sustained collaboration remains key to keeping PAAU safe and academically focused.
The VC assured students, parents and guardians that the university will continue to strengthen partnerships with security agencies to guarantee safety and stamp out criminality.
