“Pa Yusuf Okala Enjoyed Uncommon Favor of His Creator” – Professor Ocheni
The 8-day prayer for the peaceful repose of the soul of Pa Yusuf Okala, a revered centenarian who passed away at 105, has been held at his residence in Ajiyolo-Ajikpome, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The late Pa Yusuf (Clifford) Okala died on July 17, 2025, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy and many children, including Kogi State Auditor-General Alhaji Yakubu Okala.
The prayer session, which was attended by thousands of mourners from within and outside the state, including the representative of Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Other dignitaries in attendance included top government officials, traditional rulers, and notable personalities.
Professor Stephen Ikani Ocheni, a former Minister at the ceremony, described Pa Yusuf Okala as an elder statesman who lived an accomplished and glorious life.
He noted that the deceased’s attainment of 105 years was a testament to his blessed life and advised the family to take solace in his enduring legacies.
“Pa Yusuf Okala reached the milestone age of 105 before passing away. This is indeed a celebration of life, a rare age to attain in recent times.
” Pa Yusuf Okala enjoyed an uncommon favor of His Creator. The entire family should take solace in this and uphold his enduring legacies,” Professor Ocheni said.
The former Minister also attended the fidau prayer for the late husband of the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Haji Rabi Okute at Ajiakagu in Dekina Local Government Area which was also held today.
Professor Ocheni commiserates with the Commissioner on the passing of her husband, praying God to grant his gentle soul eternal bliss and the family the courage to bear the great loss.
