In a bid to Provide a meaningful live to the indigents and the people living with HIV/AIDs in the federal Capital Territory,fct Abuja, the HIV/AIDs unit of the Social Development Secretariat, SDS of the federal Capital Territory has distributed Skills acquisition and income generating equipment to about 30 persons.
The empowerment Ceremony took place at the Cinema Hall of the Social Development Secretariat, SDS of the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Art and Culture Area 10, fct Abuja Wednesday November 1st, 2023.
In his welcome address, Dr. Okoro Nwachinemere the head of the HIV/AIDs unit of the federal Capital Territory, fct Abuja, Social Development Secretariat, Commended the Mandate Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, SDS Hon. Ibrahim Aminu Massari for providing the enabling environment for the HIV/AIDs unit to Carry out it mandate, he reiterated the unit’s Commitment towards ensuring a better live for the Vulnerable, particularly, people living with HIV/AIDs by Providing Sustainable ways of generating income to enable them become Self-reliant.
Dr. Okoro said that, their Unwavering Commitments to impact positively in the lives of the Vulnerable is underscored by the series of Skills acquisition, Empowerment and income generating activities the HIV/AIDs unit of the Social Development Secretariat ( SDS)fct Abuja, has Organised in 2023 alone, Saying that the unit has held four Skills acquisition and empowerment Program for Persons living with HIV/AIDs this year, and that over 844 persons were trained in Skills and Startup packages and income generating equipment was distributed to them .
He further noted that, besides the empowerment program, the HIV/AIDs unit has embarked on Massive awareness and enlightment Campaigns to educate the public on preventive measures to keep them safe from Contracting the Scourge, this according to him was in addition to HIV/AIDS Testing Services and Nutritional Support( Immune boaster) provided by the unit.
In his remarks, the Mandate Secretary of the federal Capital Territory, Social Development Secretariat, Hon. Ibrahim Aminu Massari, lauded the efforts and Commitments of the Head of HIV/AIDs Unite towards ensuring self reliance through sustainable income generating empowerment Programs for people living with HIV/AIDs, Stressing that the unit’s Consistency in ensuring meaningful live for the people living with HIV/AIDs was in furtherance and realization of the Renewed Hope agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government.
While pledging his support and that of the Honourable Minister of the federal Capital Territory,Barr. Nyesome Wike for the Unit, for Sustained positive impact by empowering People living with the desease in the Federal Capital Territory, towards Self-reliance, he also urged Beneficiaries of the program to judiciously put to use the income generating equipment given to them.
Earlier, the Director of Youth, Social Development Secretariat, Mrs Asabe Umar hailed the mandate Secretary,Hon. Ibrahim Aminu Massari for his Support which led to the Success of the Ceremony,she also advise the Beneficiaries of the program to perceive of the Skills acquired and the income generating equipment as a talent given to them by God.
The high point of the Ceremony was the distribution of 24 motorized Grinding Machines,three Sowing Machines and two
fuckanising Machines to Beneficiaries.
