Otu, most youth-friendly governor in Nigeria, says Barrister Akiba
The Special Adviser (SA) on General Duties to Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, has described the governor as the most youth-friendly governor in the country
Barrister Akiba, according to a Punch report written by Emem Julius, made the statement in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, during a chat with media professionals.
The report indicated that the SA General Duties hailed the governor’s commitment to youth inclusion in governance and decision-making processes, while noting that his administration’s deliberate policies and programmes were aimed at empowering young people.
The outspoken legal pundit and grassroots politician playing prominent role in the actualization of the People-First agenda of Governor Otu, was quoted in the report as saying that “Governor Bassey Otu-led administration has consistently demonstrated a strong resolve to address youth unemployment, promote entrepreneurship, and create opportunities for skills development across the state. His Excellency is committed to youth inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.”
Akiba, who is believed to be one of the most active and top performing SAs in Otu’s administration, noted that “several youth-focused initiatives introduced by the government have begun to yield positive outcomes, adding that young people in Cross River State now have greater access to training, grants, and mentorship programmes.”
Akiba was further quoted to have said that “Governor Otu has shown uncommon dedication to the welfare of young people. From appointments into key positions to the implementation of empowerment schemes, his administration stands out as one that truly understands the needs of the youth. He is the most youth-friendly governor in Nigeria.”
He implored other state governors in the country to emulate the wonderful initiatives of Governor Otu, regarding meaningful youth engagement which according to him, is critical to national development and social stability.
The SA urged youths in Cross River State to exploit and make full use of the opportunities created by the Otu-led government, while ensuring that they remain upright, peaceable and productive members of society.
